This charming little figurine is a vintage Zsolnay porcelain bunny, handcrafted in Hungary around 1960. It’s a sweet hare statuette, captured in a delicate pose, hugging a twig with tiny blue-tipped buds. Standing at about three inches tall, and just over two inches wide and long, it’s a small but striking piece that could brighten anyone’s shelf or collection. The glaze is glossy, showing off the hand-painted details, especially in the bunny’s gentle eyes and soft brown shading on the ears. For something over sixty years old, it’s in near mint condition, which is pretty rare—most pieces this age have chips, cracks or faded paint, but this one still looks just about as nice as the day it left the kiln.
The Zsolnay brand is a big name in Hungarian porcelain, known for its quality craftsmanship and unique artistic style. Founded in 1853, their factory in Pécs, Hungary, has been turning out all kinds of decorative and functional ceramics for generations. The mid-century Zsolnay animal figures are especially loved by collectors for their blend of naturalistic detail and whimsical charm. They’re not mass-produced, and each is hand-painted, so even similar pieces have their own personalities. Finding a Zsolnay bunny like this, still in such great shape, isn’t something you see every day—these figurines were treasured by families and often passed down or tucked safely away. Over time, Zsolnay’s hand-finished porcelain art has only become more desirable for vintage lovers, especially when the pieces are preserved this well.
