This is a Herend Queen Victoria Art Nouveau floral vase from around 1970, hand painted and in near mint condition. The bright peony and leaf sprays pop against the crisp white porcelain, and the scalloped, flared rim and foot are finished with fine gold lines. At 7.5 inches tall and about 3.5 inches wide in diameter, it’s a graceful, easy-to-display size for a windowsill or shelf, and the narrow neck suits a few stems or can simply stand alone as decor. The glaze is glossy, the colors are clean and unfaded, and with only the lightest signs of age it looks like it spent most of its life in a cabinet. Being made in 1970, it’s roughly fifty‑six years old, solidly vintage yet fresh in style.
Herend, founded in 1826 in Hungary, is famous for hand‑painted hard‑paste porcelain. The Queen Victoria pattern debuted at London’s 1851 Great Exhibition, named after the monarch who ordered a service. Motifs include peonies, butterflies, leafy branches, and gilded edges; each piece is individually painted, so small variations are normal. 1970s examples often show vivid enamels and gilding. Not rare, but collectible, especially in near mint condition and practical sizes like this 7.5‑inch vase.
