This is a Girl With Braids figurine from Bodrogkeresztur porcelain, an Art Deco–inspired kneeling nude from around 1960. It stands 5.5 inches tall, 2 inches wide, and 3.5 inches long, finished in a glossy white glaze that highlights the clean, curved lines. The pose is quiet and modest, hands lifted to the chest, with softly modeled features typical of mid‑century design. Condition is near mint: bright glaze, sharp edges, no chips or cracks, only minimal shelf wear. At roughly 65 years old, it’s a true vintage piece that stays small enough for a bookcase, vanity tray, or bedside display.
Bodrogkeresztur is a Hungarian ceramics tradition from the Tokaj region, where small workshops in the 1950s–60s turned out short‑run figurines with modernist, late‑Art‑Deco lines. White and cream glazes were favored so the sculpting could speak for itself, and subjects often included dancers, bathers, and kneeling women. Output was modest compared with big factories like Zsolnay or Hollóháza, so pieces like this can be scarce today. Look for an impressed or stamped place name and occasional model numbers; a bit of glaze pooling under the base is normal. Collectors prize the silhouettes and how they style with Scandinavian or Bauhaus‑leaning decor.
