This Herend Hungary porcelain slipper shoe figurine is all charm and sparkle. Finished in the Chinese Bouquet Raspberry, also known as the Apponyi pattern, it shows crisp hand-painted pink blossoms and two raised rosettes on the vamp, with graceful gold trim running along the edges and heel. Made in 2006 and kept in near mint condition, the glaze is glossy, the colors are vivid, and the gilding looks clean with no obvious wear. It sits sturdily on its little heel and pointed toe, making a playful yet elegant accent for a vanity, shelf, or curio cabinet. A sweet gift for a Herend fan or anyone who loves shoes, it carries the classic Herend backstamp and the careful look that only handwork gives.
Herend has crafted porcelain in Hungary since 1826, prized by European courts for its meticulous hand painting. The Apponyi, or Chinese Bouquet, pattern grew from a simplified version of Herend’s early Oriental floral, created for Count Albert Apponyi. Collectors love its many colorways, with Raspberry among the most cheerful. Each piece is fired repeatedly and touched with 24k gold, then signed with the Herend shield and painter’s marks. Figurines like this shoe were made as lighthearted cabinet pieces.
