This vintage West German Tiffany‑style lidded glass jar is a charming keeper from 1980. The domed clear body is trimmed with raised enamel lines and gold accents that mimic stained glass, with water‑lily motifs drifting around the sides and lid. It feels smooth and solid, the lid seats well, and the colors still pop. Near Mint means only the lightest shelf wear, no chips, and bright gilding, so it’s ready for display or everyday use. Great for candy, cotton pads, potpourri, or jewelry, it brings an Art Nouveau glow without fuss.
Made under the Paul Nagel Design name in West Germany, this line is known for clear glass hand‑decorated with jewel‑tone enamels and gilded outlines. The look nods to Louis Comfort Tiffany’s style, revived in the 1970s–80s, with vines, irises, and water lilies as favorite themes. Pieces were usually labeled or signed “W. Germany,” which helps date them to before reunification in 1990. Because the decoration is applied over the glass, gentle care is best: wash by hand, avoid soaking, and skip the dishwasher. Collectors like the mix of sturdiness and decorative punch, and they blend easily with vintage or modern rooms.
