This is a Herend Queen Victoria porcelain trumpet vase with a flared mouth and graceful waist. The bright white body sets off handpainted butterflies, blossoms, and leafy branches in cheerful pinks, greens, blues, and yellows. A scalloped rim finished in real gold adds a refined touch, echoed by a thin gold line at the foot. The painting is crisp and lively, with the kind of tiny brush details Herend is known for. It’s in near mint condition, showing the kind of careful handling you expect from a display piece. Whether you pop in a few fresh stems or let it stand on its own, it brings a light, elegant pop of color to a mantel, entry table, or dining room.
Herend is a Hungarian porcelain house founded in 1826, famous for shaping and painting every piece by hand. The Queen Victoria pattern debuted in 1851 after Queen Victoria purchased a large Herend service at London’s Great Exhibition; the design’s butterflies and peony-like flowers were inspired by East Asian porcelain and became one of Herend’s signatures. Collectors often know it by the code VBO (Victoria Bouquet). Decorations are painted freehand, then fired multiple times and finished with 24k gold accents. Typical backstamps read “Herend Hungary Handpainted.” Pieces from this line remain highly collectible and are still produced today.
