This is a vintage Bohemian amber cut crystal vase from around 1970, showing that warm honey glow only old leaded glass has. The surface is deeply wheel‑cut with starburst and oval motifs that catch light and throw bright flashes. The rim is scalloped, the walls feel thick and reassuring, and the base carries that satisfying weight of quality crystal. It’s described as near mint, which for a piece about 55 years old means clean and free of chips or cracks, with maybe faint shelf wear underneath. A striking, ready‑to‑use display for flowers or as a standalone accent in any room.

Bohemian crystal comes from the historic glassmaking regions of today’s Czech Republic, famed since the 1700s for brilliantly clear, high‑lead crystal and precise hand cutting. Many 1950s–1970s pieces were made as cut‑to‑clear: a thin layer of colored glass over clear crystal that artisans wheel‑cut to reveal crisp starbursts. Amber was a popular export shade, yet good examples in this condition are getting harder to find. Marks were often small acid stamps or paper labels, so many pieces are unsigned. Hand wash only, avoid dishwashers and abrasives, and store upright away from drastic temperature swings to protect the glass and finish.

This piece is an Art Deco Bohemian amber cut glass trinket box from around 1940. It’s a compact, round lidded jar measuring 2 inches high and 3.5 inches across, with a satisfying weight and a snug, ground rim. The honey-amber body is deeply cut into panels and finished with crisp wheel-engraved floral sprays across the sides and motifs on the lid. In near mint condition, the edges are clean and the patterns sharp, which is impressive for something 86 years old. It’s ideal for rings, cufflinks, or keepsakes, and it catches light beautifully on a dresser or shelf.

Bohemian glass refers to fine glassware made in the historic Bohemia region of today’s Czech Republic, long admired for thick-walled colored glass and skilled cutting and engraving. During the Art Deco era, workshops in Karlovy Vary and North Bohemia produced vanity boxes like this, often sold in sets with perfume bottles and powder jars and exported widely to Europe and the United States. The amber tone and cut-to-clear look, plus the floral wheel work, are hallmark touches. Surviving boxes in this size and near mint shape are fairly scarce, since lids and rims chip easily. Hand wash only and avoid harsh abrasives.
