This is a Herend Hungary Queen Victoria small bud vase, made around 1960 and kept in near mint shape. The porcelain is bright white with a glossy glaze, and the long neck and rounded base give it an elegant look. Hand‑painted flowers and colorful butterflies wrap the body, and the rim is edged in real gold. The artwork is crisp, with no notable rubbing, and I see no chips, cracks, or repairs. It holds a single rose or garden sprig nicely, yet it also displays well on its own. At about 65 years old, it’s a true mid‑century piece that still feels lively.

Herend has made fine porcelain in Hungary since 1826, and each Queen Victoria piece is painted by hand. The pattern debuted in 1851 at London’s Great Exhibition, when Queen Victoria purchased a service that lent its name. Its butterflies, peony‑like blooms, and leafy branches draw from Chinese export porcelain, finished with 24k gold. Because production is painstaking, genuine mid‑century examples are not common, especially this clean. Collectors know the VBO code and look for the blue Herend shield on the base, sometimes a painter’s mark. Hand wash only. A charming accent for classic or eclectic spaces anywhere.

This is a Herend porcelain basket in the Raspberry Apponyi pattern, hand painted with lush pink florals and finished with bright gold scrollwork. Made in 1970 and kept in near mint condition, it shows crisp gilding, clean glaze, and only the lightest signs of handling. The rococo-style handle and scalloped rim give it a graceful, old-world feel, while the compact bowl makes a charming spot for candies, keys, or simply display. At about 56 years old, it’s a true vintage piece, the kind that adds a bit of European elegance without feeling fussy. It presents beautifully from any angle.

Herend, founded in 1826 in the Hungarian village of Herend, is famed for hand‑painted hard‑paste porcelain favored by European courts. Artisans train for years, and pieces are fired repeatedly before being trimmed in 24k gold. The Apponyi motif—also known as Chinese Bouquet—grew from the earlier Indian Basket design and was named for Count Albert Apponyi in the early 20th century. Raspberry is one of the most collected colorways. Production is in small workshop batches, so no two items are alike. A 1970 example like this is considered vintage rather than antique, and near‑mint survivors are sought after by decorators and collectors.

This unique piece is a Herend Porcelain Figurine from 1970, sculpted by the artist Szilagyi Nagy Istvan. The figurine is called “Art Deco Nude With Mirror,” and it stands about 9.5 inches tall, with a width and length of 6 inches each. The design showcases a nude woman kneeling gracefully while examining herself in a golden mirror, wrapped partially in a delicately colored green drape. With its elegant lines and soft color palette, it’s a striking example of the Art Deco period, even though it was produced in the 1970s. Despite being over 50 years old, this figurine is in near mint condition, meaning it’s almost as fresh as when it was first made. Finding one in such great shape is rare, making it a true prized find for collectors and art lovers alike.

Herend is a name known around the world for fine porcelain. Coming from a tiny village in Hungary, Herend was established way back in 1826. Over time, it grew famous for its meticulous hand-painted porcelain figures, dishes, and decor items. By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Herend was the porcelain of royalty and aristocrats—Queen Victoria herself was a fan! The craftsmanship put into every piece remains top notch, with artists often working for years to perfect their style. Art Deco pieces like this nude figurine reflect a special era of design—bold, stylish, and ahead of its time. Since many Herend figurines were made in very limited numbers, and each was hand-painted, tracking down this exact era and artist’s work is increasingly difficult, making it a true vintage treasure for anyone who loves porcelain art.
