This is a Herend Queen Victoria vase from 1970, hand painted and finished with rich gilt in a lively Rococo shape. The body features a bright peony spray with multicolor leaves, framed by scrolling, openwork foliage washed in soft apple green and highlighted with gold. A scalloped rim and pierced foot keep it light and elegant, and the glossy glaze shows off the colors beautifully. It’s in near mint condition with crisp painting and intact gilding, ready to hold a small posy or to shine as a cabinet piece that draws the eye.

Herend is Hungary’s celebrated porcelain maker, known since the 1820s for fully hand‑painted work. The Queen Victoria pattern debuted at London’s Great Exhibition in 1851, where Queen Victoria purchased a service; the cheerful butterflies and garden flowers became Herend’s signature and took her name. Every decoration is brushed by hand, then the piece is kiln‑fired multiple times and finished with 24k gold. Many shapes echo 18th‑century Rococo porcelain, which suits the pattern’s playful colors and scrolling leaves. Collectors look for the blue Herend backstamp and painter’s numbers on the base, along with the VBO code that identifies Queen Victoria variations and colorways.

This striking Bohemian Czech ruby cut to clear crystal vase shows off the classic Hobstar Pinwheel pattern, carved through a deep red overlay to reveal brilliant clear crystal beneath. The scalloped rim, crisp fans, and lattice cuts catch light from every angle, throwing sparkles and rich ruby flashes across a room. It presents in Near Mint condition, with sharp edges and lustrous surfaces, suggesting careful handling and little use. It has the satisfying heft you expect from quality lead crystal and sits solidly on a ground base. Display it as a dramatic centerpiece or let a few long-stem blooms set it off.

Bohemian crystal comes from centuries of glassmaking in the Czech Republic, renowned since the 13th century and celebrated for clarity and hand-cut designs. Ruby cut to clear is made by casing a thin ruby layer over clear crystal, then wheel-cutting through the color to draw patterns; the technique gives vivid contrast and sparkle. The Hobstar and pinwheel motifs trace to the Brilliant Period and were embraced by Czech cutters well into the 20th century. Around 1970, workshops in Czechoslovakia produced expertly finished export pieces like this, each unique. For care, hand wash, dry and avoid sudden temperature changes.
