This vintage hand-painted enamelled cloisonné brass vase, German floral design, dates to about 1970. It stands 6 inches tall, about 5.5 inches wide, and roughly 2 inches deep, with a round shoulder and short neck that frame the warm brass body. Flowers in earthy reds sit within fine raised lines, so the pattern catches light without being flashy. The rim and interior show a soft patina in line with its age of about 56 years. Condition is near mint: crisp enamel, no chips noticed, and just minor shelf rubs, ready to sit on a mantel, credenza, or small side table.

Pieces like this came from West German workshops in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when cloisonné-on-brass giftware was made for export and department stores. Cloisonné is created by setting thin brass wires to outline the design, filling the cells with colored glass enamel, firing, and then polishing smooth. Floral themes echoed the period’s Art Nouveau revival. Many were unmarked or had paper labels that vanished, so an unbranded example is common. Near mint survivors aren’t everywhere, and small sizes are popular with collectors, so it’s a genuinely vintage, somewhat scarce piece. Care is easy: dust gently, avoid soaking, and skip harsh cleaners.

This is an Antique Magus brass coffee grinder, a hand‑crank mill made around 1920. It stands 7 inches tall and measures 4.5 by 4.5 inches, a compact piece with a domed hopper, long crank, and a pull‑out drawer for the grounds. The finish shows a warm patina, while the hardware and knob feel sturdy. Grind is adjusted by the top screw under the crank, and beans drop to steel burrs before landing in the drawer. Rated Very Good Plus, it presents clean brass, tight joints, and a smooth crank action, ready for light use or display. It’s about a century old now.

About the Magus name: collectors see the Magus badge less often than big European makers like Peugeot, Zassenhaus, or Spong, so pieces like this show up only occasionally on the market. Early‑20th‑century brass mills of this style were built with cast steel burrs, adjustable via the top nut, and were prized for making everything from moka to percolator grinds. Many were produced in small workshops, which is why details vary by batch. A century on, surviving examples in this size and condition are considered fairly scarce. Keep the brass dry, brush the burrs, and it will keep grinding.
