This charming little piece is a Herend Antique Raspberry Rose Coffee Cup and Saucer set, straight from Hungary and dating back to around 1940. It’s in near mint condition, so it looks just about as good as it did the day it was made—which is pretty impressive considering it’s over 80 years old! Standing at about 2 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter, this delicate cup and saucer set is the kind of thing you imagine finding in an old family china cabinet or at a vintage store tucked away in a quiet street. The hand-painted floral motif in a lovely raspberry pink gives it an elegant, romantic feel that instantly brightens up any tea or coffee break. The set is bordered with a fine gold trim, showing off the high quality and attention to detail that Herend is famous for.
The Herend Porcelain Manufactory has been around since 1826, and it’s one of Hungary’s proudest porcelain producers. Herend is world-renowned for its gorgeous, hand-painted pieces—everything from dinnerware to decorative figurines. The Raspberry Rose pattern is a treasure among collectors, often admired for its vibrant, detailed roses and the way each flower seems just a little bit unique thanks to the artist’s touch. Back in the early to mid-20th century, porcelain like this was a bit of a status symbol, seen in upper-class homes and often passed down as an heirloom. Since every piece is still hand-painted, no two are exactly alike, making older sets like this quite rare and, for many people, priceless. If you spot Herend in a shop or someone’s collection, you know you’re looking at a special piece of history.
