This is a Herend Apponyi Purpur bud vase, also called Chinese Bouquet Raspberry, made around 1970. It stands 6 inches (15 cm) tall with a rounded 3 inch (7.5 cm) body and a slim neck, ideal for a single stem. The crisp white porcelain sets off the hand-painted raspberry flowers, and the rim and foot carry neat touches of gold. It’s in near mint condition—glossy glaze, vivid color, no chips or cracks—so it looks almost fresh from the kiln. At just over fifty years old, it’s solid mid-century vintage and a charming, display-ready accent.
Herend is the renowned Hungarian porcelain maker founded in 1826, famous for painting every piece by hand. The Apponyi pattern is a simplified version of the older Chinese Bouquet design; Count Albert Apponyi asked for the cleaner look in the early 1900s, and it stuck. Purpur, or raspberry, is one of the classic colorways collectors chase because it pops without feeling loud. Each vase carries artisan brushwork and hand-applied gold accents, so no two are identical. Examples from the late 1960s–1970s with intact gilding and crisp motifs are considered desirable and a bit scarce, especially in near mint shape like this one.
