This is a Herend Apponyi Raspberry Large Trumpet Vase, also called the Chinese Bouquet urn, made in 1970. It stands 7 inches tall with a 6-inch diameter at the mouth, a graceful flare, and a sturdy footed base. The white porcelain is hand‑painted in deep raspberry florals and finished with fine gold rims. Condition is near mint, with crisp paint and bright gilding that suggest careful display. At more than 50 years old, it’s solidly vintage, and this larger trumpet shape in Raspberry is less common than everyday tableware, making it a satisfying find.
Herend is the renowned Hungarian porcelain house founded in 1826, known for fully hand‑painted, hard‑paste porcelain with 24k gold accents. The Apponyi, or Chinese Bouquet, pattern is a streamlined take on an older oriental blossom motif; tradition credits Count Albert Apponyi for requesting the simplified design in the early 1900s. Raspberry is one of the most collected colorways, alongside green and blue. Pieces from around 1970 typically show the Herend shield mark and a painter’s number on the base. Collectors like these vases because they mix easily with other Herend services and, at 7 inches, the trumpet form works as a stand‑alone accent or fresh‑flower holder.
