This piece is a Herend porcelain cachepot bowl in the Raspberry Chinese Bouquet pattern, dated to around 1960. It sits on a square base with gilded lion paw feet and has a crisp raspberry floral spray inside and out, finished with a hand-painted gold rim. At just 2.5 inches high and 4.5 inches across, it’s a petite accent that works as a small planter, candy bowl, or vanity catchall. The condition is near mint, with bright color and clean gilding, which is impressive for something about 66 years old. The small cachepot form with paw feet isn’t something you see every day, making it a charming mid‑century find.
Herend, founded in Hungary in 1826, is known for hand‑crafted, hard‑paste porcelain that’s painted and gilded entirely by hand, often with 24k gold. The Chinese Bouquet motif—also called Apponyi—grew out of the older Indian Basket pattern and was popularized in the 1930s after Count Apponyi requested a simplified design. The stylized peony and leaves appear in several colors; raspberry is one of the most sought‑after alongside green and blue. Expect a Herend Hungary backstamp with painter’s marks on the base. Pieces from this line have long been favored by European households, and careful hand‑washing helps preserve the gold trim and the vivid raspberry glaze.
