This charming ring tray is a small Herend trinket dish from around 1950, kept in near mint shape. It has a scalloped, leaflike outline with a fine band of gold around the rim, and inside you get a bright hand‑painted bouquet with a fluttering insect for a playful touch. The glaze is glossy and smooth, the colors are lively, and the gilding shows only the lightest signs of handling. It’s the perfect little catchall on a dresser or nightstand for rings, earrings, or cufflinks, and it looks equally at home on a desk or vanity adding a soft, vintage note.
Herend is Hungary’s celebrated porcelain factory, founded in 1826 and famed for meticulous hand painting. Each piece passes through multiple firings, and the painter’s work is done freehand with fine brushes, then touched with real gold on the edges. Classic Herend themes include floral sprays and butterflies inspired by Far Eastern porcelain; the Queen Victoria pattern won acclaim at London’s Great Exhibition in 1851 and drew royal patrons across Europe. Mid‑century pieces like this show the workshop’s postwar revival, when small decorative trays were popular gifts. Collectors look for crisp decoration, strong gilding, and clean glaze with no damage overall.
