This is a vintage Hollohaza porcelain seagull figurine from around 1980, done in Art Deco style. The glossy white bird swoops over a low oval base like it is skimming a wave, with soft blue shading on the wings and an orange beak with neat gray striping. It measures about 4 inches tall (10 cm), 6 inches wide (15 cm), and 3 inches long (7.5 cm). Condition is near mint, with bright glaze and no chips, cracks, or repairs, just light shelf wear. At roughly 46 years old, it is a vintage piece that brings a coastal feel to a shelf or desk.
Hollohaza is a historic Hungarian porcelain maker, founded in 1777 in the village of Hollóháza, known for bright white, hard-paste porcelain fired to a glassy finish. Beyond tableware, the factory built a following for modernist animal and bird figures, especially in the 1970s and 1980s, when sculptors favored sleek lines and airbrushed colors like on this gull. Factory stamps on the base help confirm origin and era. Many designs from that era are no longer produced, and examples from 1980 in near mint shape are getting harder to find, which makes this little seabird a display-ready collectible.
