This vintage amber cut‑to‑clear bud vase brings a honey glow to a room and sparkles when light hits its hand‑cut panels. The tall, flared neck narrows above a band of clear crystal that shows off precise cuts, then settles onto a small pedestal foot. The color is cased over clear, so the cuts reveal bright windows that catch and scatter light. It looks gently used, well kept, and ready for a single rose or a clipped garden stem. The original label on the foot is a nice touch for collectors and points to quality craftsmanship from around 1980, vintage glass.
Cut‑to‑clear crystal is made by layering colored glass over clear, then wheel‑cutting patterns through the color to expose sparkling facets. European houses in Bohemia, Hungary, Slovenia, and Belgium popularized the look, and many 1970s–1980s pieces used 24% lead crystal for extra brilliance and weight. Bud vases from these lines were often offered in amber, ruby, cobalt, and emerald, sold through department stores and gifted for weddings and anniversaries. Hallmarks include crisp edges, a polished rim, and a ground foot. Care is simple: wash by hand, avoid the dishwasher, and keep the label intact. Seed bubbles and shelf wear are normal.
